away in a manger…

I love Christmas. BIG time.

So when I first saw the images of this Clear Dollar Stamps set I almost fell off my chair! I just know you're going to love it as much as I do!! How can you resist???

This adorable Baby Jesus Nuggets stamp set features little Baby Jesus, two coordinating wood "panels" (which makes stamping a "wood" background very easy and gorgeous I might add!) as well as the nugget wrapper itself, which looks like hay, and of course the cutest little sentiment! This set will be available for purchase on Nov. 1, so don't worry, you don't have to wait too long!!

For my first project, I made this little nugget holder out of an oval "paper-mache" box! Isn't this a hoot??

Best part is, it was super easy to make!

First, I cut about an inch off the base of the box so that it wouldn't be quite so tall. I did this with my scissors and luckily the cardboard has enough give that you can go around the box without any major mishaps! You can always sand off any unwanted edges, but it doesn't have to be perfect, especially because you can ink the rim up, and it will look neat and finished!

I used my oval nestabilities dies to make the scallop window cover out of shimmer cardstock and traced the inside of the oval onto the lid box. I made the oval opening in the lid using an x-acto knife. I then used a slightly larger oval die to cut a transparency to line the "inside" of the window.  You can also use a coluzzle or any other cutting tool you prefer. (I did this instead of just randomly cutting a larger piece of transparency so that when you lift the lid off it looks neat and pretty! I'm all for hiding all sorts of sins, but this one extra little step makes everything look that much better, I promise!)

I stamped the "wood" pieces all along the sides of the box and the lid, embossed them and then just sponged a bit of my distress inks along with some mustard yellow ink (for highlights!) to "color" in the wood. Here's a little close-up view of the sides:

I stamped and colored Baby Jesus onto my address labels and then stamped the wrapper image on top, and voila! That's it! Easy huh? Then you can just have fun adding any little embellishments you want! I punched out a tiny star to decorate the sentiment and added some stickles to clear window for added "bling".

I cut some small bits of raffia to give the appearance of hay, and was able to perfectly fit 3 Nuggets into my little manger box. The rest of the nuggets that came in the package I ate. (well I couldn't very well make two projects using the same candy, could I??)

Seriously though, wouldn't this make a great little token gift – for everyone?? I think you can make a few of these for place settings at Christmas breakfast! Or even as a little stocking stuffer.. or as a little gift for the kids in the class!! The possibilities are endless! What a fun way to present a yummy treat!

I hope you like this at least HALF as much as I enjoyed making it!! I tried showing it off to my biggest critic, unfortunately, Nicholas felt it wasn't (and I quote) "Jesus-y enough" LOL.. he did say it was cute though.. I hope you agree!!

Thanks for checking in and stay tuned for the card I made using this very set!!
