August Subscriber Key Ingredients!

Hiya sugarbunnies!

I'm so excited about today's post!  You see, today I, along with several of the Baker's Dozen are sharing our creations using the August Key Ingredients Kit form Taylored Expressions.

This month's subscriber kit features a gorgeous collection of patterned paper, ribbon, stickers, and cute little butterflies that you can check out HERE, and to get those creative juices flowing, Taylor always issues a fabulous challenge for everyone to start playing!

This month's challenge for us (and for all of you too - once you get your monthly kit!) is "Fancy Flight", so we were to incorporate a bit of anything "flight-related" such as dragonflies, butterflies, kites, clouds, and well, anything that inspires you to think of sunny days!  When I looked at the paper in our kit, I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous prints and bright colors, but I wanted to create something with a different kind of "flight" in mind.  My inspiration was totally the passage of time, and I decided to make an altered "scrapbook" plaque of my little boy, who is not so little anymore.

Isn't this dreamy??  I am so happy it turned out just like I envisioned, and even more so because I started out with just a wood piece from my stash which looked like this:

(It was definitely one of those bargain bin dollar finds from the craft store!!)  I started out my making a big ol' mix
of Vintage Photo ink from Ranger and some alcohol;  I used vodka - drank some, mixed some.. (I kid, I kid.. just checkin' to see if you're still reading..) and I applied the mixture to the wood piece using a sponge dauber to basically act as a stain.  Once dried, I sprayed the entire thing with Dark Cornflower Maya Mist, and Vanilla Smooch Spritz to add some glimmer and sparkle (so love the faint sparkle! looks faboosh IRL)

I then put my scrapbook page together by combining some paper from the kit and distressed it all to my little heart's content.  I also distressed the edges of my photo using a file, and embellished my page using ribbon, and those yummy "ribbon" accent stickers, also included in the August Key Ingredients Kit.  I added some Clear Twinkles to my clouds, which I die cut using Taylor's new Marshmallow Creme Felt.  I used the small letter stickers from the kit to spell out the words on my page, and then stamped one of my favorite quotes, and the hot air balloon image from The Places You'll Go stamp set, and mounted everything onto my page using small foam squares.

I absolutely loooove the end result and it will definitely be a piece I look at often.  I love how easily everything came together and that I was able to get the "collage" look I was looking for.  The fact that everything in the kit is so perfectly coordinated makes it so easy to just create and not worry about finding things that match from 20 different sources, and that is the main reason why I not only love recommending the kits but I'm a subscriber myself!!

You can get a subscription of your very own right HERE, and as if the gorgeous kits weren't enough of a great deal, there is another fabulous perk to subscribing - every month before your kit ships you will receive a reminder from Taylor to order anything in the TE Store at a 10% discount which will be shipped along with your kit, and therefore shipping is FREE!  This is a great time to stock up on all your favorite TE goodies!! How cool is that?

Well now that you're going to sign up for your Key Ingredients Kit (if you haven't already!!) I just know you're going to want more inspiration and yummy eye candy, so please visit these lovely ladies, and see what they cooked up for you today:
